Obama Reportedly Will Name Geithner As Treasury Secretary

(RTTNews) - President-elect Barack Obama seems to be filling out his economic team, in a move that could calm markets still gripped by uncertainty and bring some clarity to a political situation in limbo as the Bush Administration winds down the end of its term.
Obama has reportedly picked Timothy Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, to be his Treasury Secretary. Also, Lawrence Summers is said to be in line for a senior White House role, one that could end up with him becoming Ben Bernanke's successor as head of the Federal Reserve.
Uncertainty surrounding the leadership of the Treasury Department has contributed to a feeling of unease about the economy, one that has helped send stocks to multi-year lows in recent days.
